The Ngong Hills are peaks in a ridge along the Great Rift Valley, located southwest 22 KM from Nairobi, in southern Kenya. The word "Ngong" is a Maasai word meaning "knuckles" due to the 7 hill peaks of the ridge, which stands alone rising from the plain around Nairobi. The peak of the Ngong Hills is at 2,460 meters (8070 feet) above sea level.
Overlooking the Great Valley over 4000 feet below and the Nairobi National Park game reserve, the Ngong hills represents the beautiful view of green Nairobi with vast acres of green vegetation which is breathtaking. A gazetted forest reserve covering an area of over 21,000 sq KM, the Ngong Hills hike takes 4-5 hours depending on fitness level.
We shall start the hike from Ngong Hills Kenya Forest Service payment point, have a picnic lunch at one of the peaks and afterwards descend to the ending point of Kona Baridi.
